The Next Step

if you’ve read every self-help book until they all sound the same, if every retreat or seminar gets your hopes up but doesn’t deliver lasting change in your life, if you know that you know what it takes to be centered/content/peaceful/enthusiastic/(fill in the blank) – but you just aren’t doing it …. keep reading.

I know a few people who aren’t the least bit interested in self-help books. They are oblivious to the rising stars of the personal development field, and they’ve never been to a guided retreat. Yet watching them, I notice how sure of themselves they are most of the time. They make decisions easily, accept disappointments, try new things. Their lives aren’t perfect but they still seem downright content despite the imperfections. And they don’t struggle half as much as I do to get there. So, what are they doing and can the rest of us do it too?

They are good at two things: deep practicing and taking action.

Deep practicing is an experience of focused learning; their attention is concentrated on smaller segments of the whole. They master the techniques, observations, and self-awareness found in the best books and retreats. You and I do that, too. In fact, the learning is so much fun that some of us never go past this step and into the next….

Taking action.

If this is where you are… if you’ve read every self-help book until they all sound the same, if every retreat or seminar gets your hopes up but doesn’t deliver lasting change in your life, if you know that you know what it takes to be centered/content/peaceful/enthusiastic/(fill in the blank) – but you just aren’t doing it …. then I invite you to discover life coaching as a way to guide and shape all your marvelous learning into meaningful action. Change your life!  Isn’t that what you’ve been working for, after all?
